Volvo Group made the self-driving garbage truck that will collect the refuse in the residential area. A car is equipped with a set of sensors that scan the surroundings of the vehicle in order to prevent any collision, as with the immovable obstacles, as well as with moving ones. The car will have an operator (a driver) that will control the process of collecting trash, but he will be deprived of tiresome responsibility to drive the truck, manipulate its parking, get in and out of the cabin. Such simplification will make the joints in legs and arms of an operator less weary that is now a common wide problem for workers of garbage trucks, according to Lars Stenqvist.
The car will be able to drive ahead and in reverse itself, and to stop at once if any obstacle will be spotted at its event horizon.
